TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT
A fully fledged transport fleet is provided for use by the students of GMIT. The buses pick and drop students from various locations in Davanagere and Harihar. A safe and timely service is the motto of the transport team at GMIT. The transport team consists of experienced drivers, skilled maintenance staff and a Transport Head to ensure smooth operations.
We have operating 20 buses during the academic year 2023-24. Which covers 16 routes of the city Davanagere and Harihar. About 3000 Students have been using the benifits. 16 buses with 50 seating capacity each for students and 4 buses with 45 seating capacity each are provided from across the city. (7 Tata Macro polo, 2 Ashok Leyland and 8 Swaraj Mazad, 3 Eicher).
We follow a systematic approach to diagnostic and improvement techniques to create a high-performing maintenance environment. Our practices reduce waste and eliminate unnecessary paperwork while improving shop performance. This is done by:
- Instituting standard job times and performance management metrics.
- Employing efficient location design processes and systems.
Transportation committee:
As the cornerstone of an effective fleet management program, preventive maintenance minimizes breakdowns, owntime, capital costs and inconvenience. Our program ensures your students are always riding a safe, secure bus, while also providing cost efficiency and reliability. Our certified vehicle maintenance technicians make certain each First Student bus operates effectively and efficiently. Our maintenance standards are among the most stringent in the industry, providing each district safe, reliable buses.

To ensure the safety of our students, First Student drivers perform a pre-trip inspection before each bus run and a post-trip inspection after all students are dropped off. Our maintenance system and directs our team's attention to any urgent needs so we can continue to provide reliable, fully operational vehicles
