Proctoring has been recognized as a crucial mechanism to support the career progression of early-career academics. In the realm of Higher Education, it plays a pivotal role, especially for those who seek guidance on their academic journey. In today's rapidly changing society, educational institutions bear the responsibility of safeguarding students' interests, enabling them to prepare for future challenges. This responsibility is underscored by the importance of discipline.

As your proctor, my role is to uphold discipline within the college. However, achieving this goal requires your active cooperation. Discipline is a cornerstone of success in life, and at GM University, we emphasize its importance across all facets of our academic community. It is through discipline that we mold our minds and pave the way for a successful life.

It is crucial to understand that discipline, in our context, does not mean robotic conformity. On the contrary, the University encourages active participation in both academic and extracurricular activities. Proctorial System In GMU

Every student is paired with a proctor, a faculty member from their respective department or program. The proctor assumes the responsibility of overseeing the student's academic performance and behaviour, providing guidance, and ensuring discipline when necessary. Regular meetings between the proctor and student are held to evaluate academic progress, considering both performance and attendance. This information is communicated to the student's parents or guardians. The proctor also offers counselling on various topics, including the credit system, elective courses, research opportunities, and exchange programs.

Individual proctors are assigned at the batch level, maintaining a ratio of 1:20. The proctor collaborates with the concerned Dean and Heads of Departments to allocate the appropriate faculty member. A comprehensive document detailing mentor-student pairings is meticulously maintained and routinely updated for the benefit of higher authorities.

To keep a record of mentor-mentee interactions, parent visits, and action plans, each mentor employs a diary. This diary serves as a valuable tool for documenting essential details related to the mentorship.
