Director 's Message
It is a pleasure to welcome you to the School of Applied Science! We are now stepping into a newly established University in the Mid-Karnataka region for the academic year 2024-2025. I would like to first congratulate you on behalf of the school for having been accepted to pursue your studies in the School of Applied Science at GM University.
The School of Applied Science (SAS) is part of the Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences (FBAS) at the GM Campus, offering three (03) professional B.Sc. (Honors) Courses, which include Bio-Technology, Microbiology, and Food Science and Technology.
The school develops and cultivates core knowledge by offering several programs and research opportunities. At the undergraduate level, we offer B.Sc. in Bio-technology and Microbiology for those interested in academia, pharmaceuticals, clinical work, and R & D departments. For those interested in developing nutritional knowledge, understanding the physical and chemical properties of foods and their role in health and disease, as well as those interested in jobs related to FSSI departments, we offer B.Sc. in Food Science technology. The 21st century has brought unprecedented opportunities for research and discovery in applied sciences due to major advancements in biological tools and biological software. The School is pleased to announce its new Honors Thesis program for undergraduate students interested in conducting research. Students are also encouraged to apply for the undergraduate summer program and internship program in various academic and R & D departments.
GM University's strongest differentiator is its group of experienced faculty members with diverse academic and professional backgrounds. These academicians are committed to the highest standards of teaching, mentoring, and consulting. In addition to teaching courses, faculty members also lead vibrant research programs, pushing the frontiers of basic and applied sciences. The institute has an excellent publication record in internationally recognized journals, with undergraduate students also contributing substantially. The institute nurtures research with an interdisciplinary flavor.
The university not only focuses on the field of studies but also on co-curricular activities. Throughout the year, the campus is vibrant with many activities such as Techfest, Cultural fest, Navratri fest, seminars, workshops, expert lectures, training programs, industry-customized programs, and many more. We also carry out many social activities like blood donation camps, Joy of Giving, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Avoid Plastic campaign, salute to the Indian army, International Day of Democracy, etc.
On behalf of the entire School and as Director of the School, I wish you a wonderful and fulfilling experience as a GMU student. My colleagues and I are looking forward to seeing you on campus, in our lectures, and our research labs. I wish you all the best for future endeavours.
