Director 's Message
I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to you at the School of
Mathematical and Physical Science We are excited to begin our academic
journey at a recently founded university in the Mid-Karnataka region in
the academic year 2024–2025. On behalf of the school, I would like to start
by congratulating you for being admitted to GM University’s School of
Mathematical and Physical Science. The GM Campus’s School of
Mathematical and Physical Science (SMPS) is a division of the Faculty of
Basic and Applied Sciences (FBAS). It offers three professional B.Sc.
(Honours) courses in, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science and
Statistics.
The school provides a variety of programmes and research opportunities in order to acquire
and cultivate core knowledge. For students interested in academic or technical fields, we offer B.Sc.
programmes in, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science and Statistics at the undergraduate level.
Additionally, for individuals who are interested in pursuing post-graduate studies in the fields of
Mathematical and Physical Science, we offer an M.Sc. in Physics and Mathematics, we also promise
to conduct multidisciplinary, contextual, need-based, socially relevant, and translational research of
the highest calibre at our departments, which may address some of the major issues in the basic and
applied sciences in these streams. We are also creating R&D departments to encourage students to
engage in research activities in these areas.
We aim at offering fascinating student experience in a research environment with an eye on
technology applications. Our research initiatives span a wide range of frontier areas in physical
sciences. The School is pleased to announce its new Honours Thesis program for undergraduate
students interested in conducting research and also students are encouraged to apply for
undergraduate summer program and internship program in various academic and
R & D department.
GM University strongest differentiator is its group of experienced faculty members with
diverse academic and professional backgrounds. These academicians are committed to the highest
standard of teaching, mentoring and consulting. In addition to teaching courses the faculty members
also lead vibrant research programs, pushing the frontiers of basic and applied sciences. The institute
has an excellent publication record in internationally recognized journals with the undergraduate
students also contributing substantially. The institute nurtures research with an inter-disciplinary
flavour.
On behalf of the entire School and as Director of the School, I wish you a wonderful and
fulfilling experience as a GMU student. My colleagues and I are looking forward to seeing you on
campus, in our lectures, and our research labs.
