Aim & Summary

The aim of the course is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the foundational concepts of the engineering drawings and creating a concept by using engineering drawing. The course aims to equip students with the knowledge of product design using CATIA software. The course which leads to students to understand the CAD workbenches such as sketcher in which creation of 2D sketches with the help of draw entities . and studenst can gain the material application in part design and product assembly in assembly workbench and also understanding the concepts of sheet metal design and surface design.

Course Content
Week 1 Introduction to engineering drawings, introduction to CATIA V5. Workbenches, GUI of CATIA
Week 2 Introduction to sketcher workbench, basic sketching, positioning sketching. Profile creation using draw entities and editing the profiles.
Week 3 Understanding the constraints, applying geometrical and dimensional constraints to the sketches TUTORIAL
Week 4 Introduction to part design, understanding the sketch based features, applying dress up features creation of 3D designs. TUTORIAL

QUIZ 1

Week 5 Introduction to part design: creation of translation features , advanced dress up features and surface based features TUTORIAL
Week 6 Introduction to assembly workbench, understanding product structure tools and type of approaches, assembly constraints TUTORIAL
Week 7 Introduction to assembly workbench: design and assembling a models
Week 8 Introduction to sheet metal design: basic concept of sheet metal and understanding theory of sheet metal design.

QUIZ 2

Week 9 overview of sheet metal workbench, creation of walls and rolled walls and understanding bending operations TUTORIAL
Week 10 Introduction to surface and wireframe workbench: creation of point, lines and surfaces
Week 11 Introduction to drafting workbench, creating generative drawings from 3D models and saves the file.
Week 12 Introduction to drafting workbench, creating generative drawings from 3D models and saves the file.

PROJECT REPORT

Course Certification

Certificate will have your name, photograph and the score in the final exam with the breakup. It will have the logos of GMU and company handling the course.
