Roles and Responsibilities

1. Director – IQAC

The Director (IQAC) is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to ensure continuous quality improvement across all functions of the University.

Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and implement policies, strategies, and frameworks for quality assurance and enhancement in teaching, research, and administration.
  • Coordinate preparation, submission, and monitoring of accreditation and ranking-related reports (NAAC, NIRF, NBA, etc.).
  • Develop and maintain the quality system, including documentation, process monitoring, and review mechanisms.
  • Plan and conduct Academic and Administrative Audits (AAA) and ensure timely follow-up actions.
  • Organize seminars, workshops, and training programs on quality assurance, outcome-based education (OBE), and best practices.
  • Facilitate the collection and analysis of feedback from students, faculty, alumni, and employers for continuous improvement.
  • Monitor the implementation of institutional policies on curriculum design, teaching-learning, evaluation, and research ethics.
  • Prepare the Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) and submit it to NAAC as per the prescribed schedule.
  • Promote innovation and institutional best practices through benchmarking and inter-departmental sharing.
  • Liaise with external agencies and regulatory bodies for quality compliance, accreditation, and audit requirements.
  • Guide Department IQAC Coordinators in implementing quality initiatives at the departmental level.

2. Department IQAC Coordinators

The Department IQAC Coordinators serve as the link between the Central IQAC and their respective departments, ensuring the implementation and monitoring of quality initiatives at the departmental level.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate all IQAC activities within the department under the guidance of the Director (IQAC).
  • Collect and maintain data and records related to teaching-learning, research, student performance, and faculty achievements.
  • Facilitate preparation of departmental reports, self-assessment, and documentation for accreditation and audits.
  • Ensure implementation of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) practices — formulation of COs, POs, PSOs, and mapping with assessment tools.
  • Organize department-level quality improvement programs, such as seminars, workshops, and faculty development activities.
  • Collect feedback from students, alumni, and employers, analyze it, and recommend corrective measures.
  • Monitor academic processes, including lesson plans, course files, internal assessments, and mentoring systems.
  • Identify and promote best practices within the department and share them with the central IQAC.
  • Assist faculty in maintaining quality documentation for publications, projects, consultancy, and innovation.
  • Prepare periodic progress reports of departmental activities and submit them to the Central IQAC.
  • Ensure continuous quality culture within the department through teamwork and faculty involvement.

3. Functional Relationship Between Central and Department IQACs

Director IQAC:

Policy, coordination, training, and institutional quality systems.

Department IQAC Coordinators:

Implementation, documentation, feedback, and local quality improvement.

Outcome:

Sustained and measurable enhancement in academic excellence, research productivity, and student success.
